DSV Pro Cycling 11 Feb 2020 Tankwa Track Race

“Tankwa sure was a great test not only physically, but mentally as well. Apart from bashing elbows with some of the world’s best riders, this race is a proper early season test with some unforgiving terrain and features to push your limits.

I think we learnt a lot, tested our new equipment thoroughly and moving forward there are many positives to build on.” ~ Gert Heyns

Gert Heyns and Arno du Toit managed to take 2nd in the African Jersey and placed 6th Overall at the recent Momentum Health Tankwa Trek.

The race started with a punchy 24.5km prologue flowing through orchards, past rocky outcrops and over dam walls, riders had to prepare for steep short climbs on Stage 1.

Day 2 – A well-earned but tricky descent brought riders back into the heart of the valley, du Toit and Heyns managed to make up lost time due to technical problems on stage one and managed to place 2nd in the African Jersey category.

Day 3 – Undulating farm roads lead up to the infamous Merino Monster “the climb of all climbs” and DSV Pro Cycling managed to move to 7th spot on GC and maintain their 2nd position in the African Jersey.

Day 4 – After a hot and very dusty day in the saddle the Tankwa Trek ended with a high.  DSV Pro Cycling Results 6th on GC and 2nd African Jersey.

Thank you to all our Partners for the support during the race, we look forward to an amazing ABSA Cape Epic.
